How to Become a Registered Valuer In India - IOVRVF 

A Registered Valuer is a person who registers with the authority with the necessary qualifications and experience as per the applicable laws. The Central Government issued a notification on 23rd October 2017 and entrusted its functions and powers under section 247 of the Companies Act, 2013 to the IBBI (Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India) as the Authority under the Companies Rules, 2017 (The Registered Valuer and Valuation Rules). As per the amended rules, only an individual registered with IBBI as a registered valuer can perform Valuation under the Companies Act, as well as the IBBI code, 2016 w.e.f. 1st Feb 2019.

There are three classes of Registered Valuers:

  • Land and Building Valuer
  • Plant and Machinery Valuer
  • Securities or Financial Assets Valuer 

Qualifications required to be a Registered Valuer:

  1. Graduate in Electrical, Mechanical, Electronic and Communication, Production, Electronic and Instrumentation, Textiles, Chemical, Leather, Metallurgy, or Aeronautical Engineering, or Graduate in Valuation of Plant and Machinery or equivalent;

Five Years

 

 

  1. Post Graduate in any of the above courses

Three Years

Land and Building

  1. Graduate in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Town Planning or equivalent;

Five years

 

  1. Post Graduate in any of the above courses or also in the valuation of land and building or Real Estate Valuation (a two-year full-time post-graduation course)

Three years

Securities or Financial Assets

  1. Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India, Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Administration or Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (specialization in finance) Master of Business
  2. Post Graduate in Finance

Three years

 

IOV Registered Valuer Foundation, registered under section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, is the largest Registered Valuer Organisation registered with IBBI.

As per the above qualification criteria, one can become a Registered Valuer in any of the asset classes once satisfy the above eligibility towards the journey to Become a Registered Valuer under IBBI by following the simple steps:

Step 1: Attend mandatory 50 hours of training from IOVRVF, after which one will receive the certificate of completion of training from the institution.

Step 2: After the Certification, one needs to write the examination (which will take place online at NISM examination centers). There is no limit to attempting to write the exam, but there is a need to upload the certificate of completion of training at every attempt.

Step 3: After clearing the Registered Valuer examination, one can apply for registration for FORM-A within three years preceding the date of making an application with IOVRVF.
